A Bias-Corrected Estimator for the Crosswise Model with Inattentive Respondents

چکیده

Abstract The crosswise model is an increasingly popular survey technique to elicit candid answers from respondents on sensitive questions. Recent studies, however, point out that in the presence of inattentive respondents, conventional estimator prevalence a attribute biased toward 0.5. To remedy this problem, we propose simple design-based bias correction using anchor question has item with known prevalence. We demonstrate can easily estimate and correct for arising without measuring individual-level attentiveness. also offer several useful extensions our estimator, including sensitivity analysis strategy weighting, framework multivariate regressions which latent trait used as outcome or predictor, tools power parameter selection. Our method be implemented through open-source software cWise .

A bias-corrected estimator for nonlinear systems with output-error type model structures

Parametric identification of linear time-invariant (LTI) systems with output-error (OE) type of noise model structures has a well-established theoretical framework. Different algorithms, like instrumental-variables approaches or prediction error methods (PEMs), have been proposed in the literature to compute a consistent parameter estimate for linear OE systems. Although the prediction error me...

Bias-corrected estimator for intraclass correlation coefficient in the balanced one-way random effects model

BACKGROUND Intraclass correlation coefficients (ICCs) are used in a wide range of applications. However, most commonly used estimators for the ICC are known to be subject to bias. METHODS Using second order Taylor series expansion, we propose a new bias-corrected estimator for one type of intraclass correlation coefficient, for the ICC that arises in the context of the balanced one-way random...

investigating the feasibility of a proposed model for geometric design of deployable arch structures

deployable scissor type structures are composed of the so-called scissor-like elements (sles), which are connected to each other at an intermediate point through a pivotal connection and allow them to be folded into a compact bundle for storage or transport. several sles are connected to each other in order to form units with regular polygonal plan views. the sides and radii of the polygons are...

Bias-Corrected Bootstrap and Model Uncertainty

The bootstrap has become a popular method for exploring model (structure) uncertainty. Our experiments with artificial and realworld data demonstrate that the graphs learned from bootstrap samples can be severely biased towards too complex graphical models. Accounting for this bias is hence essential, e.g., when exploring model uncertainty. We find that this bias is intimately tied to (well-kno...

A Bias-Corrected Rate-Optimal Estimator of the Integrated Covariance of Security Returns with Serially Dependent Noise (Job Market Paper)

A bias-corrected non-parametric estimator of the integrated covariance matrix of security returns is proposed. It is constructed using a linear combination of two realized kernels. In addition to its simplicity, my estimator has desirable statistical properties including consistency, asymptotic normality and the best parametric rate of convergence in the presence of serially dependent microstru...
